Masterpiece in my Garage

Recently PBS and NatGeo did a special program on a possible Leonardo DaVinci discovery. The portrait on vellum (calf skin) was verified to be 16th century work and probably Italian. The image of a young woman could be worth $100M just because it may be from Da Vinci’s hand. Another masterpiece from humbler linage sits in my garage. But not always….

//////////

Forgotten princess of Renaissance conforms,

Da Vinci’s work and toil defines her form;

But colder color clashes hard on chrome at home,

While silently my v-twin rests for running, and to roam.

—–

The beauty with her details fine and pure,

Flesh colors and the shading; proof is sure-

But my garage confines a beauty just as true,

Long, low lines and sleekness colored blue.

—–

Wealth untold for her on vellum meek-

A muted portrait flat that millions seek,

But riding with acceleration hard-

Transcends in splendor down life’s boulevard.
